Inspiration

Hello! It’s nice to be back! 😄 Last weekend was filled with big emotions. As I’m thinking how to put it into words, I’m realizing how fascinating tears are: emotions manifesting as water flowing out of our eyes. Quite special. 🩵

I’ll write a few words about missing last week’s post because it’s a great example of something I’m slowly learning, and it might resonate. Have you ever set yourself a New Year's resolution or a daily habit goal? You start with great momentum, all excited. One day, life gets busy, you’re tired, etc., you think “all good, I’ll do it tomorrow,” and you miss it. Tomorrow comes, life feels busy again, and you miss it. The day after, a voice tells you “go do it!” and even if you have time for it, you find an excuse and… you miss it. That’s the end of that new habit, until a few months later when you try again. And the cycle repeats.

Well, well, well. That happened to me many times with yoga (and many other things), and this year is the first time I managed to show up on the mat almost every day (we’re 5 months in!). 🥳🧘‍♀️ A big difference this time compared to previous years is that I’m learning that even if I miss one day, I can always choose to come back the next day. Learning to show up for myself consistently translated to that project. Even though I initially felt guilty about not posting last week, I knew the time I was taking to paint and rest to process my emotional tsunami would pay off, and that missing one week didn’t mean I was failing the whole journey.

So here we are a week later. 🎉

I’m now at the cool part of the project where I know the theme of the installation, and have a general idea of what I want to create, but have no idea about the details. So, for the sake of inspiration, I spent time on YouTube to look at what others create. It feels so good! I’m discovering amazing projects and feeling very excited to see that some people are making very cool things. If they can, I can too! 😄✨ I hadn’t consumed that kind of kinetic art content in a while, but it feels good to be back in that space.

I’ll keep looking for inspiration over the next couple of weeks, but I’ll share the ones that stood out the most from this week:

This first one is wow! It’s long, but I recommend watching the first 2-3min and observing how the different sounds make you feel. I love how the combination of many simple elements creates a complex pattern that often resembles nature.

This one touched my heart. She’s a beautiful example of someone taking action on a topic they care about. Love her pieces, and the connection with sound is very fitting for my project.

Hope you found something in it for you! ✨ Time to go on my yoga mat!

Until next time, here is this week’s aquarelle:
